09/05/03 07:48 AM: A Brief Update
Ok, I know, I know.
I have pretty much been leaving everyone who reads this in the dark about what has been going on over say, the past month or so.
The reasons for this are numerous, but mainly focus around the fact I have just been too busy to really care about updating. I hope that fact does not offend those loyal readers of WWU, because if you are indeed a loyal reader you will understand that I’ve gone through phases like this before and eventually I will return to a normal update schedule.
You may or may not follow the photolog, but if you have, you’ll note that I have been updating that even when the “weblog” porition of the site has remained, for the most part, unchanged.
Now, for those curious, here are the main reasons for the lack of updates.
Well, first of all, I have moved across the country (again) to start my second year at Georgetown University. I have left the School of Foreign Service here, and transferred to the GU College of Arts and Sciences. I am now pursuing an Economics degree, with a possible double major in English. I also now have a job (and I am actually writing this from the office) at the campus career center as an information services assistant. I can’t complain at all about the job, it involves getting paid well to work with a bunch of Macs.
Secondly, I’ve met (well, I met her in June) the most wonderful person in the world. While it’s difficult that at the moment we live 750+ miles away from each other, that has not stopped me from taking a trip across the country (and back) to visit her (and she visited me!). That’s a story, perhaps, for a future update. In any case, I will be returning to Illinois again in 15 days to see her, and it will be wonderful. Did I mention how wonderful she is?
I’ve also been busy working for The Voice, where I edit a section, write a column, and do photo work. But, the Voice staff are good people (though sometimes I get irked, but it’s really nobody’s fault), so I don’t mind working hard at a job that doesn’t pay.
So, thus, I am currently very happy with most everything, except for the fact that Georgetown isn’t in Chicago. Or that I’m not in Chicago. But, I will be back soon enough, and with modern technologies such as cell phones, e-mail and IM, the distance isn’t quite as bad as it would have been, say, 15 years ago.
And don’t forget the U.S. Postal Service.
