02/14/06 05:34 AM: And we’re off…

First off, a few site-related announcements. I have found a few volunteers to come on-board as contributors. So look forward to some introductions in the next few days. My policy, for as long as this site has existed, is that former writers retain posting access forever—so Chris and Sean, feel free to post when/if you ever want to. Same goes for dfd, Adrienne or Kevin, if any of you read the site.

Second, a good friend of mine and fellow tech nerd has volunteered to assist in switching the site over to Wordpress. This will allow us to re-enable comments, and will give our writers a nicer interface to use. Perhaps it will give us some more flexibility as far as features for readers go as well.

Now, I don’t even know who still reads this site. I know members of my family do, and a few various friends around the world. For me, that’s fine… I don’t really care about the number of people who load the site each day. But, hopefully as we add some new writers, they can bring some of their friends, and so-on and so-forth.

So what’s new on my front? Well, I discovered much to my dismay, that both of my suits had been ruined by what looks to be moths. Considering they sat in the closet at home for several years I’m going to assume that’s where the damage was done. So, I had to make a last minute trip out to the Men’s Wearhouse to drop $250 on a new suit. But it’s a classy, snazzy suit. So money well spent, I suppose. Still, I’ll miss my old suits. I wore the dark green one to see President Bush right after 9/11… and I have worn the blue one to countless functions. Alas, that’s how it goes, I suppose. Hello grey suit, welcome aboard.

The weekend was okay, Dick Cheney shot a man, it snowed in D.C. and Georgetown lost to West Virginia. You win some, you lose some… and sometimes someone gets shot in the face by the sitting Vice President. I’m sure Jay Leno, et. al. and Jon Stewart had a field day with that one, but since I don’t really watch late night television, I don’t know for certain.

Anyhow, Happy Valentines’ Day to those who celebrate it, and have a good stew about singleness for those who don’t. For those who miss the old days from elementary school of everyone getting a valentine… here you go:
