12/19/01 11:16 PM: Still sick

Blah, went back to the doctor today because of my throat problems, now I’m on a different medication, plus an antibiotic. So it goes. There was a good West Wing rerun on tonight. It contains one of the best lines, said by Leo to Josh. For those who don’t know about this episode (Noel), Josh was suffering from Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (He had been shot when a group of white power people tried to kill the President’s assistant Charlie). Anyway, Leo has Josh see a specialist to help Josh recover. I’m not going to summarize the whole episode, but in the end Leo tells Josh this story:

This guy’s walkin’ down the street when he falls into a hole. The walls are so steep he can’t get out. A doctor passes by, the guy shouts up “Hey, can you help me out?” The doctor writes a prescription, throws it down in the hole, and moves on. Then a priest goes by, the guy says “Father, I’m down in this hole, can you help me?” He writes a prayer, throws it in the hole, and goes about his way. Then a friend walks by. “Joe, it’s me, can ya help me out?” The friend jumps into the hole. Our guy says “Are you stupid? Now we’re both stuck down here!” His friend says “Yeah, but I’ve been down here before and I know the way out.”

Note: For this to make sense, I suppose you’d need to know Leo had problems of his own before (Drinking).

Ok well, enough quoting the West Wing for the evening. I’m going to get some sleep. Friday is my birthday!
