02/05/03 11:22 AM: Dreaming of Sleep
It’s been a rather tiring week up to this point. I’ve had Editorial Board meetings for the Voice each night, since Sunday night, for a total of something near ten hours of debate on a piece on University sexual assault policy. I would discuss further what exactly the debate was about, but you see, after going through ten or so hours of said debate, I really don’t even want to think about it. Also, I would tend to believe that most of my readers probably not find the details too terribly interesting.
Looking at the latest nickd redesign, it brings back the memories of my first website back in ‘97. Though, I didn’t have the Sonic the Hedgehog animation. That, I will say, rocks. I loved Sonic the Hedgehog back in the day. Also, he references this person Agie, whom I have heard references to before but still do not know quite exactly who she is. I will have to dig through my memories to see if I can recall anything. She is apparantly applying to the University of Illinois, which could possibly mean she is from Illinois, at which point that might explain something, but I really don’t know.
I should explain, that the relationship I have with the greater blogosphere is tenuous at best. It sort of goes back to the fact that I am from Illinois, but not exactly. Through some set of circumstances that I don’t quite remember, I became aquainted with Nick, and through him I have come to know others. And, on top of this all, I am friends at Georgetown with a friend of Nick’s girlfriend. Yes, I do think the word “friend” appeared too many times in that sentence. I suppose this all goes to the “it’s a small world” thing, but eh, whatever. In any case, there are all sorts of people of whom I have read their websites but never actually conversed with.
Oh, and something else. People here have discovered the existence of this site. I don’t intend on keeping things off the site because they are relevant to things/people/events on campus, as that would be silly. This is not some little private journal thing that I don’t want people reading … I wouldn’t post things such as that in public. I don’t mind if my site develops a cult following around campus….
What else? Well, for the very obsessed people, I can tell you that January was a record month for this site, as far as the number of visitors go. That, and for the first time on this website (that I can recall), I will reveal to you all …. (drumroll) ... my AIM screenname.
I know, that since the start of this whole thing, there have been many of you dying to send me instant messages. Well, I have decided to disable my blocking of non-buddies, and will this, on this very website, tell you my screenname. It is not a terribly original one, as it consists of basically my full name. It is, “DaveRStroup.” You may now send me instant messages, and I will, perhaps, reply to them. You will also now be able to read my often whitty and clever away messages and my profile.
Enjoy that, as I am sure I will enjoy the next two and a half hours of class.
