so, it’s clearly going to take a crapload of effort and money to rebuild basically three states.

our country is depleted in money and manpower because we are stuck rebuilding iraq.

if there was ever a reason to bring the troops back, and leave iraq, this is it. we can’t rebuild our own country and iraq. i’m not pretending to be an expert on the federal budget, but… it seems like we were stretched way too thin before the hurricane, and now we are going to be completely fucked.

bring them back, send them south. what we need right now is the largest search and rescue operation the country has ever seen, but we can’t do it, because we don’t have the manpower. and because only just now is the navy being deployed. why wasn’t that done before? by the time they get there, it will be too late for a lot of people. you can only survive for so long on a rooftop with the water rising.

and then what we need is the largest salvage and rebuilding campaign our country has ever seen. we thought rebuilding a few city blocks in manhattan was difficult? the damage we are seeing across the south is probably on the scale of all of new york city being underwater.

bring the troops back. stop throwing money at a problem that we can’t fix. bring them back now. like right now. like 5 minutes ago.

what are we going to do?

oh right, play the guitar.

might as well be a fiddle.
