09/19/02 02:05 PM: Grades
Ah, college. I was feeling a little down in the dumps yesterday because I got a C+ (77%) on my French test. I wasn’t expecting a good grade on that exam, as I hadn’t studied as much as I wished I had for it, and I had stayed up late basically doing not much the night before. Also, I realized as I was turning in my writing assignment for French that I had done it in the wrong format. All of this added to my dismay and worry about grades in College.
I was even more worried today when we were getting back our papers in my seminar class about Africa. My paper wasn’t exactly the best piece of writing I have done in my life, and I was really expecting another C or C+. I was very happy and surprised when I learned I had gotten a B+ on it. Perhaps all is not lost yet. I figure if I really buckle down and study for the next French exam, I can make up that grade and hopefully get a B in French. I would be happy with a B in that class, becuase I really do not enjoy it and I just want it to end.
Also, something kind of nice is that my AP credit has been added to my transcript. I have 22 credits and 7 classes completed due to AP Credit. That is not bad at all, in fact that’s basically a semester and a half almost. What this means is, if I want, I can take say four courses next semester and not worry about not graduating in four years. It gives me a nice buffer. Also, I have credit for the Short Course in Calculus so I won’t have to take a Calc course here. I can’t even explain how glad I am for the AP Program. It will undoubtedly make life here a lot eaiser of the next few years.
I am updating once again from one of the iMacs, and I think my daily updates may come from these from now on. As I mentioned before I find it much eaiser to reflect upon the days events when not filled with the distractions found on my own computer or in my room.
In other news, I spent another $40 or so on posters from Art.com. I really wanted a poster of the Chicago skyline for my room, and I found one that will actually fit, but it was $27. I will be sure to take care of it so I can reuse it next year or something. Eventually I might get it framed, for use in an apartment, when the time comes. It is a very nice view of the skyline and night. Chicago is so beautiful at night, especially when viewed from Lake Shore Drive. Do it sometime, start pretty far south, around Hyde Park. It will take your breath away as you approach on a clear night.
I need to go fill out an application for a position on the College Democrats board, plus do some other various tasks. Maybe I will have more political related postings soon, who knows. We haven’t heard from Chris in a while so maybe he can fill us in on what’s going on in “the heartland.”
