12/11/02 01:06 PM: I am back

This morning I took my International Trade exam, thus ending finals week for me. This was in addition to three or so final papers which I have finished, and one that is still in the works. It’s not due until next week, and I will have the rare chance to work on it at home (Gasp!). My flight home is at noon on Saturday. Hopefully I can get a good 5 or so pages of the paper done before then, perhaps 2 or 3 today and another 2 or 3 tomorrow. That would leave just a few more to do on Saturday and Sunday (and part of Monday).

What else is new? Well, it’s been about eleven days since I came back on campus after Thanksgiving. Not a whole lot, other than finals has occured since then. I finished French, and I am hoping for a somewhat decent grade, though I would be happy some kind of C. English, I am hoping for an A, as I think I deserve one, and that my final paper was A material as well. My Theology grade is really up in the air, I am unsure. I think I did a decent job on my final papers, but I don’t really know if it’s enough to break into the A range… I would have to predict a B+ in that class if I don’t get an A. As far as Econ goes, I had a 98% going into the final today, and I feel confortable I at least got an A on it (knock on wood). That leaves my discussion class on Africa. This final paper will really make the difference, probably. I would predict either B+ or A- in that class.

Overall, I will be pleased with a B/B+ average. Anything better will be surprising. It was the first semester, and I needed to adjust.

Next semester, I am taking:

World History II (Meaning 1500s to present)
Political and Social Thought (Mandatory Philosophy Class)
International Finance
Spanish (No more French for me)
Map of the Modern World (1 Credit mandatory geography class for the SFS)

For those who want to stalk me, here’s my schedule.

Oh, and something else that’s just a bit strange. After taking my final today, I walked over to our wannabe student union, the Leavey Center, to get a muffin. Also, for about the third time in my life I bought a cup of coffee. Once again, no matter how much sugar or creme I add, I still don’t like it. Oh well. In any case, that is irrelevent. Walking back I decide randomly to take the long way, which involves walking around by the library and some on-campus apartments. Meanwhile, I was thinking about how I wanted to see someone before I left for home on Saturday, but wasn’t sure that I would actually run into them. Well, as I was walking past some of the apartments, that very person I was hoping to see was coming out! I found it quite coincidental to run into them at that very moment. So, I was able to talk to them, and that just made my morning.

I have to work on my Africa paper soon, so I will wrap this up with one more point. Trent Lott. My opinion, he needs to go. I don’t even understand how he lasted this long. With a history of making racist remarks, I suppose it took the latest incident to bring widespread coverage. I should hope Republicans do not choose him to be majority leader, and I would like to see him resign from the Senate. And now with Bush denouncing Lott, it seems as though the Republican leadership has abandoned him. Good for them.
