I sent an email to ExxonMobil a while back about an oil spill or something (I honestly don’t remember at this point). Today I got this giant envelope in the mail today from them. There was the standard form letter telling me they had spent billions of dollars addressing the issue, etc. then there was a copy of a letter from Judge H. Russel Holland of Anchorage, Alaska. It was apparently written to someone who had sent the judge a letter such as the one I had sent to ExxonMobil. Coming from a distinguished person such as Mr. Holland, it was supposed to assuage my fears. All the names and addresses were blacked out. I found that to be quite hilarious. I mean, you see “top-secret” information blacked out of documents on the X-Files and detective shows and stuff, but here this was, right in front of me. It seemed kind of surreal.
