07/01/01 12:27 AM: Balcony
I was sitting out on my balcony tonight. I would say it was around 11:45. I live in a little sort of “community” of apartment buildings, mind you. So there are lots of parking lots around. The balcony has a nice few of a couple of them. I was just enjoying my state of lethargy, as well as the cool breeze on a hot summer night. I saw two persons, approximately twenty years of age, walking in one of the parking lots. They appeared to be coming from one of the townhouses to their car. But they did not get in a car. They walked from car to car, peering in the windows with a flashlight. Interesting behavior, I thought. They apparently did not find what they were looking for, as they soon left that particular lot, crossing in front of me into another. The continued to peer into cars with their flashlight, never getting into one. The only thing that comes to mind is that they were looking for a car whose owner was dim-witted enough to leave the keys in the ignition, ready for them to steal. A couple police cars came by a bit later. I’m not sure what that was in regards to. The whole picture was quite humorous, though. Two twenty year olds dressed in Abercrombie-type attire thinking that they were being stealthy. No, dear friends. No matter how hard you may try to discourage it, someone will always be watching you.
