10/17/02 04:54 PM: I’m Home
Damn it feels good to be home. The first thing I did was go to Mama and Me and make myself a pizza. Man, it was nice to have real food. This week has been going by like a blur. It helps that my parents are putting me to work what with painting the house and doing lawnwork. Oh well, I guess its worth it to eat real food and take real showers and sleep in my own bed. Heres a quick link. It donates a dollar to breast cancer research everytime you click on the ribbon. I figure it can’t hurt.
I guess its also good, because I get to read the newspapers to see what’s going on in the world. I read in the newspapers that North Korea has been trying to build nuclear weapons. That would make 2 of the 3 countries that Bush outlined as the “Axis of Evil” that have weapons of mass destruction. (I am going along dave’s theory here.) Reading the theories out there about why they would admit that they would admit such a thing, I think that they wouldn’t have admitted it unless the already have one such weapon. Along with the “election” of Saddam Hussien in which 100% of the voting population of Iraq voted for him, it makes things pretty hairy for Bush. This now creates 2 hostile nations poised for war, not to mention Afghanistan, where we still have troops. Add the terrorist attacks in Bali, and we have pretty much the whole world against us. Europe won’t support us in our “thing” against Iraq. It looks as though Asia isn’t with us. China has been reassuring us that North Korea wasn’t up to anything funny. Indonesia has the largest population of Muslims, and we haven’t really made that religion happy with us. Japan like us, but that’s about it.
I hate to look like a cynic here, but things aren’t looking too bright for us Americans. I think that we should rethink our position. We aren’t the only superpower now that the Soviet Union has fallen. Other states have caught up to us. We don’t need to police the world, but think about ways to not piss off other nations. Just a thought.
