Imperfect Perfection

Long, straight hair
Down to the middle of the back
Green eyeshadow
With a touch of blue
That blue that matches
The sweater she bought last week
To go with her new shoes
The ones with the straps
That wind around her ankles
The ankles that turn into her legs
Those smooth, silky legs
Golden from the tanning booth
Those legs that end in her waist
The waist that runs in her torso
Which curves out again
To form the ideal hourglass
And right in the middle
Is the bellybutton ring
That’s all the rage
On either side are those delicate arms
Completely free
Because of that spaghetti strap shirt
That says “Angel”
Those arms that end in
Long, delicate fingers
Fattened by rings
Two on each hand
Ruby, opal, sapphire, diamond
That giant smile
With perfect teeth
That screams “Look at me!”
Thank God that’s not you.
