02/06/01 09:37 AM: It looks as though Sharon

It looks as though Sharon is leading in the election in Israel. A little over 50% of voters have turned out so far, according to CNN. The polls close in about two and a half hours, and tommorow we will find out the results. The world awaits the decision of the Israelis, and as Kevin has stated before, we can rest assured that a Sharon victory will not lead to peace anytime soon.

Now on to domestic issues, I saw Tom Daschle (Senate Democratic Leader), on TV, and I think he made a good point about the Bush tax cut plan. He said, “If you make over $300,000 a year, you can buy a new Lexus. If you make $30,000 a year, you can buy a new muffler for your used car.” I think the point is a good one, the middle class and lower class needs to be targeted in this cut, as they need tax relief more. If they want to help the economy, and increase disposable income, give it to the middle class, the rich are still going to spend the same amount of money they do now anyway. It won’t make that much of a difference. I guess Bush is just paying back those who helped him be “selected” president.
