06/16/04 11:24 PM: Kerry/Dean

Sorry to kick Chris’s entry out of the top spot, but I want to make a political prediction. This one is based soley on rumors and polling data… but!

I predict that John Kerry will name Howard Dean as his running mate.

And this isn’t just a former Deaniac speaking here. As Kos at the DailyKos mentions, Dean on the ticket could defuse some of the Nader factor. Plus it lets us have a good “attack dog” out on the campaign trail to take on Cheney, etc. Imagine Howard Dean debating Dick Cheney?

And, according to a Zogby poll, Dean/Kerry is competitive:

In an interactive presidential poll of 7,741 likely voters in key battleground states conducted by Zogby Interactive, a John Kerry-Howard Dean ticket receives 47% of support as compared to the George Bush-Dick Cheney ticket with 48%. Independent Ralph Nader receives 1%. The interactive poll was taken Tuesday, June 1 through Sunday, June 6. Overall results have a margin of sampling error that ranges between +/- 2.1- 4.5 percentage points.

Thoughts? Flames?

  1. Life would be so great if it was a Kerry-Dean ticket, but I’m predicting a Kerry-Edwards ticket. http://www.usatoday.com/news/politicselections/nation/president/2004-06-12-kerry-vp_x.htm

  2. Yeah. I was every bit as much of a Dean supporter as you (well, almost) but Edwards is a shoe-in.

  3. Man, another time when I wish I could put pictures up. I can’t find it, but it was in the Trib just in the last couple of days about Kerry and a running mate. Something about J-Lo saying that Kerry has a problem with commitment. Hilarious.

  4. as far as Edwards goes, I’m not so sure. Kerry doesn’t particularly like him, from what I’ve heard. I heard he’s leaning towards Gephardt, which makes me very very sad and upset.
