I realized I haven’t updated for a while now, and for those who have been checking everyday for an update, I apologize.
I just haven’t had much to write about. I have a little poll going in my AIM profile as to what direction weblog posts should take, and right now it’s looking like “should discuss even more of Dave’s private life” is winning, with “should have more political rants” coming in second. If you are on AIM go ahead and view my profile (a new gravity) and vote.
While I don’t have much to talk about as far as my day-to-day life goes, I figured I’d just do a nice little political rant post.
I’ve been trying to decide lately who to support for the 2004 Democratic nomination for President. There are nine candidates now, and for a while really no one stood out. However, in the past few weeks, after reading various posts on the subject at DailyKos and other venues, I have come to a conclusion that there is one candidate worth supporting. I should mention, I would vote for any non-Bush candidate in the general election, regardless of which Democrat was nominated (Even if it was, god forbid, Al Sharpton).
That candidate is former governor of Vermont, Howard Dean. The self-proclaimed candidate for the “democratic wing of the Democratic party,” I believe that, despite what many say, he is electable. Recently, he has taken a lot of heat for being “too liberal,” from other candidates and from the DLC (Democratic Leadership Council). However, these attacks have been for the most part unfounded, and surprisingly, the results of the attacks have been Dean getting more recognition and support. Dean has a large grassroot network of support, and he also offers real solutions to the problems ignored or made worse by Bush.
For those unfamiliar with Dean or his platform, check out Dean for America, his campaign website, and also his official weblog.
A little unrelated, but still on the topic of the election, I’d like to see someone run on the slogan “Operation American Freedom.” This of course would be referring to attempting to undo the damage caused by the USA PATRIOT Act and other draconian measures which have been installed during the Bush Administration.
