10/25/01 04:43 PM: Army duty
Okay, time to brag before I receive my SAT II scores and my ego is completely deflated. My class rank is 6th out of 329 students. Hooray for standardized testing.
Today was my economics teacher’s last day before he leaves for Army duty. No, he is not going to Afghanistan. In fact, he is going to Virginia to work for a computer company, or something like that. Back when he was called up but had not yet received his orders, he told us not to feel too sorry for him if he ended up in Virginia. His pay just went up 80% from his teacher’s salary. Not bad. I don’t think I’ve ever met anyone less likely to be a teacher, but he was a good one nonetheless. He is short on words, except perhaps when he is criticizing the government. We had a test today (covering five chapters yet only containing three questions since he said he didn’t have much time to grade papers), so he didn’t say anything until the class was over: “Bye. Have a nice life.”
