02/21/06 03:13 AM: A few notes on current events
First of all, I’m not a huge fan of the Winter Olympics. I was a big fan of the 2004 Summer Olympics, but I’m just not getting into this year’s games. Probably because I’ve been fairly busy, and the Olympics were just background noise at 5 AM while at the conference this weekend.

But one thing I did notice. Why are they giving out compact discs instead of medals this year? Seriously, can the winner put that into a CD-ROM drive and pull up a video of their performance? Who thought that was a good design? Well, I’m sure someone had their reasons but I think it’s a bit goofy.
You all may have heard about the girl who did a science experiment that showed restaurant ice had more germs than toliet water. Consumerist comes out with the common-sense reply. Of course there is more bacteria in the ice, because the ice isn’t full of chemicals designed to kill bacteria. Try making ice out of restaurant toliet water—it’ll liquify your internal organs.
I’m not in a good mood. I don’t know how to do most of these problems for an Econ problem set, and I’ve got a midterm and a paper due next week. Not a happy camper.
