the real reason for procrastination over a new design stems from importing all of these old entries. you see, i have posts going back to january 2001. that’s over five years worth of entries, numbering in the thousands. why is this a problem? well, it’s not so much the entries themselves, but all of the spam in the comments. there’s over 35,000 spam comments attached to my entries, and when i attempted to import everything into wordpress earlier this year, it had some issues dealing with that.
i’m going to try my luck with a different cms, this time textpattern. once i deal with getting the entries switched over, i can go in and hopefully remove the spam comments and then start on the new design. if i can get textpattern working, i’ll probably swap movabletype out asap even if i have not changed the design.
