01/26/02 07:00 PM: Upgrades!

Much motherboard installing was done this weekend, followed by much intensive benchmarking. I come away very impressed with my new SOYO K7VDRAGON+ Motherboard and AMD Athlon XP 1800+ CPU. If you are interested in seeing some of the benchmarking data, go here. I will eventually write a full review of the system, but that won’t come for a few more days. One thing that is kind of cool (is it?), I currently have no PCI cards installed. Yeah… the only card installed is my Geforce 3 Video Card, everything else (sound, LAN) is onboard.

So, here are the specs of the machine (presently named Galt):

AMD Athlon XP 1800+ CPU (1.53 Ghz)

SOYO K7VDRAGON+ Motherboard (VIA KT266A Chipset)

512 MB PC2100 DDR SDRAM

Geforce 3 Ti-200 AGP Graphics

Onboard Sound (With Digital/Optical IN and OUT) !

Onboard 10/100 Mbps LAN

I especially love the built in digital optical in/out. I can finally digitally send things to my MiniDisc recorder. Yay for that.

What else is new? Well, today I saw Black Hawk Down. It was good, and hopefully will lead to a better understanding of what happened. That is the extent of my review as of tonight. I might write more about it later on. That’s all for now, I have a few things to do.

Oh, and I would like to take this time to publically denounce the behavior of one Dan Dominik during fourth period AP Calculus on Friday, January 25, 2002.
