11/05/02 07:27 PM: Post-Election Day
Well, once again it was a depressing Election Day. Or, should I say Election Night. Election day is one of my favorite days of the year. You can just feel the democracy in the air, and I find voting a very enjoyable experience. Perhaps that’s just becuase I’m an ideological college student, but what can I say.
I voted in the District of Columbia, so now I no longer have Congressional representation. Oh well, I guess that’s one of the downsides to living in the nation’s capital.
As far as the result of the election go, I wasn’t as much surprised as I was dissapointed. It’s both unfortunate, but also amazing how much of an effect just a few thousand people in just a few states can have on national politics. It was just like Election Night 2000, but worse.
In any case, all eyes will be on the republicans now. They had best better not screw up, or else they will face the wrath of voters in 2004. They can’t blame their shortcomings on a democratic senate.
