Today I went to yet another science competition, this time it was local conference type thing at Moraine Valley Community College (the same place I saw Dick Cheney about a year and a half ago). I competed in the Physics event, and the “Science Bowl.” This is actually a funny story. You see, the Science Bowl is a Jeopardy-style game with questions that are based on issues of Audubon Magazine. My partner and I opted not to read the said magazines ahead of time and to just wing it. Well, what luck we had, we made it to finals, and ended up getting shiny medals for our ultra poor performance in the final round. Oh well. Some of the questions were painfully obvious, such as “Who was Sonny Bono?” or “How were the Hawaiian Islands formed?” to really specific to the magazine or statistics such as “How many panthers are left in the Everglades.” Oh well, I was pleased with our performance considering we didn’t study at all. Physics was a joke, I ended up getting second place (Out of a lot of people taking the test probabally ~25-30). Joe, one of my team mates (Who did Science Bowl also), got 3rd. We tore up the place. Yeah. Something like that.
The rest of the week looks like it might be hectic, so don’t expect too much as far as updates go. I have to register to vote tomorrow, it’s the last day to register for the Spring elections.
