So I went to O’Hare International Airport today for the President’s trip. I arrived around 8:30 AM, picked up my press credentials and hung around for two hours before Bush arrived. Mayor Daley and Governor Ryan were there also, and gave remarks before the President arrived. Also present were: Speaker Dennis Hastert, Minority Leader Dick Gephardt, Senator Dick Durbin, Rep. Mark Kirk, Secretary Mineta, and various others. Here is a transcript of the President’s remarks. Not bad. For anyone from Chicago I was located in the press area next to Andy Shaw and others from ABC7-TV.
Later, I had just finished eating lunch at McDonalds, and as I was leaving I was able to see the Presidential motorcade go by. I’d never seen the full motorcade go by, they sure spare no expense.
I’m locking myself inside this weekend and doing nothing except school work and college applications.
