08/02/01 06:45 PM: Never been to a concert

Sounds like Dave had quite an adventure at his concert. Obviously companies no longer have ethics and do the “right thing.” Let’s face it, the right thing versus making $5 per bottle, why not rip the people off. If you are lucky they won’t go crazy like Woodstock 99. If you’re not, well, hey, you made your money already so as long as you can get out without getting hurt it’s all good, right? Pretty sad, but true. Having never actually been to a concert I would not know what the story is like around here or how the typical setup goes. “What! You have never been to a concert? What kind of idiot are you?” Sorry, it’s about at the same level as riding a roller coaster on the list of things I want to do (Hint: the bottom of the list). Yes, I know I am weird.

So yesterday I went to the esteemed Best Buy and purchased a 40GB Maxtor hard disk. Except, I ended up with a 40 GB Quantum Fireball. One would expect that when one buys a hard disk labeled Maxtor that one would get a disk manufactured by Maxtor. Well it turns out that Quantum’s hard drive group merged with Maxtor in April. So, I was slightly disappointed about that. But everything is running fine and I cannot really complain because the hard disk is by far quieter than my 10GB Western Digital drive. I wanted a 7200rpm drive, which I ended up with, but I only have an ATA-33 IDE controller so I should probably go get an ATA-100 controller card to speeding along faster than I am now. So I now have a 20gb windows 98 partition and roughly 10gb for Linux (Redhat 7.1) and the balance is sitting un-partitioned until I figure out what to do with it. And I still have my other 10gb hard disk. I am good on space for a while :-)

I was talking with Dave earlier and he indicated that he got his pictures back, so I guess whoever did the picture processing is safe from the wrath of Dave…for now. I look forward to seeing some of the aforementioned pictures.
