01/31/02 09:44 PM: State of the Onion
Notice how clever I was to use the stories from The Onion so I didn’t have to provide any sort of original content, or the analysis of the State of the Union I said I might do. Well, I still don’t have much content to bring to you. I will be very busy the next few days, so it’s not looking good for then either. I still have to make up things for Psychology, Econ, and Math. Next week I hope I can get that all done. It will be tough though, with the large amount of meetings I need to attend. It’s making me rather upset. So it goes…
Ok, that being said, let’s move on…
DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (Reuters) – Hoping to tap into the wave of patriotism sweeping the United States since Sept. 11, President Bush asked Americans on Thursday to seize the moment to change the nation’s “feel good” culture. “Our culture has said, ‘If it feels good, do it,”’ he said in a speech at an emergency operations center. “Our dream, or my dream for the country is that we usher in a culture that says ‘Each of us are responsible for the decisions we make in life.” Bush’s reference to America’s feel good culture apparently alluded to what U.S. Republicans saw as the excesses of former President Bill Clinton’s eight years in office which were marred by sexual scandals.
Mr. Bush, haven’t you been taught, you shouldn’t throw stones… I suppose the whole drinking thing wasn’t “excess,” and I suppose he took responsibility for his DUI conviction by covering it up until the day before Election Day, oh and I guess the whole Cocaine thing was not in excess either. I don’t know where he comes up with this “feel good” culture idea. I agree that we are all responsible for the decisions we make, but I think its clear that not taking responsibility is a bipartisan problem.
I’ve been crossing out “In God We Trust” on all the money I have, and replacing it with “Let’s Roll.”
