The court’s reasoning to remove the tube was A) She is in a “persistent vegetative state” and B) her husband who also is her legal guardian has the right to make that decision, which he did.
According to him, her inability to eat will starve her death, and for her it will seem like peacefully falling asleep. He also said she would not want to live this way.
Her parents are trying to get the tube reconnected. They said they were able to see a response in her based on the way she moved her eyes. According to them, she seemed relieved that they are trying to appeal this case all the way to the U.S. Supreme Court.
