The “morning after pill” might soon be available at your local drug store. Well, not that soon. But the makers of the emergency contraception pill Plan B hope to have its status changed from prescription to over-the-counter by the end of next year. This all hinges on FDA approval, of course. CNN reports that the morning after pill could prevent up to 1.5 million unintended pregnancies and 700,000 abortions annually in the U.S. alone. That’s reason enough for me. So don’t be surprised if you see something new on the shelf next to the Tylenol next year.
