11/07/05 10:42 AM: the return of the blog (part iii-iv)

There are a few reasons why we haven’t seen the redesign and switch to Wordpress here at WWU. The main reason is the comment spam problem we had with MovableType. There are over 25,000 useless comments full of spam in the system, and maybe 100-200 legitimate comments. When I was first working on Wordpress, I decided I would parse out the spam comments and leave the real ones. However, this proved a bit daunting of a task. There was also a bigger problem, Wordpress didn’t import all of the entries correctly. It would associate entries with the wrong author, along with other issues.

So I’m not sure what to do. I’m thinking the importing errors might have something to do with all of those comments, but I’m not sure.

What I’ll probably end up doing is just deleting all of the comments in MT and then exporting again. But part of me doesn’t want to lose the comments. Alas, sometimes that happens, though.

So what else is new? I’ve been busy with work and school, as usual. I’m currently applying for an internship at the Naval Criminal Investigative Service, but won’t find out if I get it for a few more weeks. I’m taking some interesting classes, and only have one more semester to go before graduation.

I think I’m addicted to Splenda as well.
