03/11/01 01:03 AM: There’s just something about hanging
There’s just something about hanging out at Denny’s, WalMart, and the grocery store at 3:00 A.M. in a small town. The sad thing is that those are the busiest places around at that time. There’s really nothing else to do. I mean, you could sleep, but that’s pretty boring. There are more people at Denny’s than everywhere else combined. And there’s always a bunch of friends there. Or if you’re like me and don’t know anybody but are with a friend that knows everybody, his friends are always there. It’s amazing. Last time I was at Denny’s late at night, we talked to these three girls for two hours or so, and then we hung out afterward. Tonight, we went and had the same thing happen with three other girls. We hung out afterward, and we ended up running into two of the girls that we hung out with last time. And don’t get me wrong here. It probably sounds like I’m some idiot trying to pick up a date at Denny’s or something. That’s not what it was at all. The girls were all old friends of my friend that he hadn’t seen in like two years. They were just really cool and we had fun doing stupid stuff like playing hide-and-seek in WalMart. It’s weird. All the stupid fake people are out during the day, but at 3:00 A.M. you’re almost certain to run into cool, down-to-earth, friendly people.
