03/29/01 09:37 PM: Timothy McVeigh’s only regret is
Timothy McVeigh’s only regret is that he did not start have kids before he was caught. Funny, that’s about the only good thing that I can think of regarding that whole situation. Imagine being that kid. Or imagine being that kid’s mother. What do you say when he asks, “Where’s Daddy?” He has a right to know, but it could end up doing him more harm than good. I suppose he’d find out eventually, one way or another. But let’s face it. There are some people that just should not have children. I’m not saying that people should be forcibly sterilized (well, not before they do anything wrong, at least. I would have no problem sterilizing sex offenders) but some people just should not be encouraged, you know? McVeigh said, “If I had known there was an entire day-care center, it might have given me pause to switch targets.” Aw, what a guy. But he also said, “I recognized beforehand that someone might be bringing their kid to work.” So exactly how many children’s lives are expendable in the name of terrorism? How many kids have to be in danger before you have to consider Plan B? After seeing the carnage, McVeigh thought to himself, “Damn, I didn’t knock the building.” Hmm, I wonder if they’d consider letting him adopt.
