08/01/01 09:59 PM: Fucking promoters
Well, I have returned from the Radiohead concert in Chicago. For all of the younger readers, or those who are offended by foul language, please look away. It is at this point in the post I need to vent some anger over what occurred today.
FUCK WHOEVER THE HELL THE PROMOTION COMPANY OR WHATEVER THE HELL RAN THE CONCERT TODAY!
IT WAS A COMPLETE AND TOTAL FUCKING RIP OFF—I WILL EXPLAIN BELOW
OK, today was the hottest day of the year so far in Chicago. With the heat index, it was like 105 degrees. So, following the advice of the local news, and common sense, I pack several bottles (8) of water into a soft cooler to take with me. I arrive downtown at 11 AM, proceede to meet up with Nick Disabato and his assorted crew. We then go to the concert venue and get into the line. It is at this point we are informed we are NOT ALLOWED TO BRING IN WATER. We can have ONE BOTTLE and that bottle cannot have cap. Well, I have to throw away about 6 bottles of water, and of course in the heat the one measly bottle will do no good. So of course we are then forced to purchase $5 bottles of WARM WATER. YEAH THATS NOT FUCKED UP AT ALL. CNN did a special fucking report this morning about how damn hot it was going to be in Chicago, and talking about how dangerous it is, and how 500 people died a few summers back. Yeah, so whoever the hell put on this concert bans water?!? I’m going to write a letter to the City of Chicago urging them to never allow whoever it hosted this to ever set foot in the City again.
Ok, enough of my digression into poor language. I just needed to vent. I spent $20 today on water, and $15 on food. Can you believe that? That is just crazy.
